On Saturday, August 29, the NBA playoffs resumed following boycotts by NBA teams in reaction to Jacob Blake being shot several times in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
The Milwaukee Bucks closed out their series with Orlando thanks to a big first half. The Magic made a valiant attempt to fight back in the 3rd Quarter; however, their efforts were not enough to overcome the Bucks. With their 118-104 victory, Milwaukee closed out the series four games to one. Next up for Milwaukee is the Miami Heat. That series is set to kick off on Monday, August 31.
In the second game of the day, the Houston Rockets blew out the OKC Thunder 114-80 to take a 3-2 series lead. Game six will take place on Monday, August 31.
In the night-cap, the LA Lakers, led by another Lebron James’ triple-double (36 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists) and Anthony Davis’ 43 points, were able to outlast the Portland Trail Blazers, 131-122. The Lakers now wait for the winner of the OKC-Houston series.
On Sunday, August 31, the Boston Celtics used an outstanding first quarter to defeat the Toronto Raptors 112-94 in the first game of the Eastern Conference Semis.
In the Western Conference, the LA Clippers, despite a great start by Dallas, finally put away the Mavericks 111-97 to win the series, 4-2.
In the last game of the evening, the Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz battled it out in Game 6. Behind Jamal Murray’s 50 point performance, the Denver Nuggets were able to take Game 6, 119-107. Game 7 will be Tuesday, September 1. The winner will face the Clippers in the Western Conference Semis.
